Best Beauty Products December 2018

2018 was a year for BEAUTY! I used so many new beauty products and fell in love with new brands that I haven’t used in the past. Many of you ask me all the time about my makeup! I’m highlighting the best beauty products from last month.

My skin is normal, meaning it’s a healthy combination of dry and oily. I did a recent post where I talked to you all about makeup/face primers. For that reason, I won’t dive too deep into that topic – read the post here {Best Makeup Primers}.

Let’s dive into what beauty products I used and loved last month. I am only focusing on month to month newbies and favorites. I don’t want to overwhelm you with all the different makeup I use and try year round. It is A LOT! So a monthly highlight of who is new in my beauty bag is where I’ll start!

Too Faced Born This Way Foundation and Concealor

I talked about this foundation a lot on Instagram, but one of my favorite discoveries last month was the Born This Way Collection by Too Faced Cosmetics. Like many of you, I watch what products beauty bloggers are talking about. This product came up time and time again. I got really excited when I saw so many women of color loving it too. I use this product almost daily. Since I rotate brands so often, running completely out of a product takes awhile! But truth be told, I ran out of this product within a month. Definitely bought it again!

Details:

Foundation Shade: Chestnut

Concealor Shade: Warm Sand

Revlon Photoready Candid

A really cool part of my job is working with beauty brands and trying products. The ultimate goal is to share these products with you and inspire you to try them too! Revlon is a new friend and I’ve been using and loving a few products from multiple collections. One of my favorites was their new Photoready Candid Foundation. It was light, buildable and easy to apply.

Foundation: Photoready Candid Shade 510

Bobbi Brown Bronzer

I made a major change in my makeup routine and stopped using blush. It wasn’t that I didn’t like the way it looked, I was just ready to try something new. This is where Bobbi Brown Bronzer comes into play. I started contouring my cheeks with the bronzing powder in shade “deep.” Doing this gave me a more naturally defined cheekbone. There is not glitter or sparkle to it, which I love. I add the shine in with highlighter as the next step in my makeup routine.

Bronzer: Shade Deep

Eyeshadow Palettes

There were so many new eyeshadow palettes that I tried in 2018. I am always mixing shades and brands to create the finished look. My top palettes that I used last month and beyond are listed below:

Urban Decay: Born To Run, Beached (Sold Out but so good)

Too Faced: Chocolate Gold

Marc Jacobs: Eye-Conic

Mascara

This mascara was introduced to me by Reese Witherspoon. I work with Draper James periodically throughout the year and in one of the last goodie boxes from 2018, the Elizabeth Arden Grand Entrance Mascara. I used it not expecting much and ended up falling in love. I use A LOT of different brands when it comes to mascara. This particular brand is my latest new discovery. You may remember me working with Rimmel London in 2018 as well, I have always enjoyed their mascara. This was probably the first mascara brand I bought when I started wearing makeup years ago! So fun to see things come full circle.

Elizabeth Arden: Grand Entrance Mascara (Stunning Black)

There were so many great products added to my beauty bag in 2018, that a full list would probably turn into a small novel! I hope you enjoy taking in my monthly finds, starting with December! What were some of your favorites from last year? Sound off in the comments below or shoot me an email!

Happy New Year! I can’t wait to share the best beauty products for this month (January)!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! WOW! I cannot believe this year is already coming to a close. It’s been an interesting year filled with incredible highs and some unfathomable lows. But seeing the growth in my brand and getting to connect with each of you on a deeper level, has been such a blessing.

Beginning of the Year

When I started 2018, I’ll be honest, I wasn’t focused. I was feeling down and I was still trying to get a handle on what direction I wanted stephtaylorjackson.com to go.

Creating The Plan

But I slowed down, regrouped and wrote down my goals. I tried my best to follow through, all while balancing life and work. Everything didn’t go as planned, and that’s OK! But it’s amazing to see what happens when you are laser focused on what you want.

I wanted to create content that I am proud of and that you, the reader, can relate to and connect with. There were really proud moments too. From NYFW, to landing my first major brand deal, to then landing several more major deals and then the biggest deal of them all with DSW … it was truly an incredible year that surpassed all my expectations. For this, I am eternally grateful.

2019 Vision

My prayer for 2019 is continued growth, consistency and a relentless pursuit to fulfill all of my potential.

My prayer for each of you is to follow your dreams. No matter what.

Most days I’m terrified and feel like I’m navigating a very unclear space. I wish I knew the exact details of my next move, but I usually don’t. One thing I do know is that my work is not finished yet. I’m trusting God that what’s next for me, will be even better that what has been. I’m claiming it! For you and for me!

Thank You!

Thank you SO much for your support this year. Every comment, like, encouraging word, share, pat on the back … you name it! It does not go unnoticed and keeps me going. It’s not too late to set out your vision for 2019, be intentional! You got this!

Happy New Year, loves. Cheers to 2019! Let’s get after it!

Get To Know DSW Style Squad + My Christmas List

[et_pb_section fb_built=”1″ _builder_version=”3.18.9″][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.18.9″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.18.9″ parallax=”off” parallax_method=”on”][et_pb_image src=”https://stephtaylorjackson.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/First-Look-11.jpg” _builder_version=”3.18.9″][/et_pb_image][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.18.9″]Happy Holidays!! Wow, I can’t believe this year is coming to an end. I shared on my Instagram several days ago that I’d be sharing more about my DSW Style Squad sisters in an upcoming post – but then life and work got the best of me and this post never went live. So here we are, better late than never, right?

As we near the end of our amazing and life changing campaign with DSW, I wanted to share a little bit more about the “squad” and help you get to know us a better! [/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=”https://stephtaylorjackson.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/First-Look-2-1.jpg” _builder_version=”3.18.9″][/et_pb_image][et_pb_image src=”https://stephtaylorjackson.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/First-Look-8-1.jpg” _builder_version=”3.18.9″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.18.9″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.18.9″ parallax=”off” parallax_method=”on”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.18.9″]

I feel really fortunate that I got to do this project with actual friends of mine!

Sarah is the content creator behind The Cultured Fashionista. I remember meeting Sarah for the first time years ago at a Kendra Scott event in Baybrook (a suburb of Houston), our friend Rosalynn (also on the squad) was hosting the event! I love Sarah because she works so hard and is super stylish and creative. Her and her husband Rami recently renovated a home in Houston and have the sweetest little pup named Humphrey. Sarah’s closet is one that I would love to raid! She is so genuine and I look forward to many more adventures together!

Shay is the editor of shaymone.com! She’s from Dallas like me! I can’t remember how we met exactly, but I remember following her page for the longest because we were both in Houston! We both work in the retail industry and when we’re together can share stories and relate to what the other is going through. I love Shay because she is total mom goals. I drive myself crazy with 2 kids – she has THREE and they are little! She has the best style and truly inspires myself and many other mamas out there – you don’t have to let yourself go just because you have a lot going on!

Roselyn! Ah! My love. (RoselynWeaver.com) I can’t say enough kind words to describe this sweet soul. I still remember a few years ago when we were at an event and she told me that she and Brandon were going to start the process of adoption. And I’ll never forget getting the text that Baby Weaver was HERE! I admire Roselyn so much for always getting her ish done! She works full time like many of us, but she is probably the most consistent, full-time working blogger I’ve ever seen. She’s cranking out content daily and I’m over here just trying to keep my head above ground. I have so much love and admiration for her hustle!

Last but definitely not least is Dawn (dawnpdarnell.com)!!! I don’t remember when we met exactly, because we were always at events together in Houston, but Dawn is seriously the sweetest and funniest person. When we’re all together, you can count on her to keep us laughing. She’s a mommy to a precious little boy and has grown so much over the last few years with her blog/business! I just love, love, lover her energy! There’s no way you can be around her and not smile. She has the biggest heart for people and is such a go getter!

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.18.9″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.18.9″ parallax=”off” parallax_method=”on”][et_pb_image src=”https://stephtaylorjackson.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/First-Look-12.jpg” _builder_version=”3.18.9″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.18.9″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.18.9″ parallax=”off” parallax_method=”on”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.18.9″]

I love that we all bring something different to the table. We all have different talents that are unique to us and that’s what has made our squad so special. I hope you’ve enjoyed how we’ve styled our shoes from DSW over the last several months! It’s our goal to inspire you and help you feel confident with your style!

We’re heading out on a trip soon to celebrate our brand deal + a great year and I can’t wait!

Now – if you’ve made it this far, here is a little peek at what I’m getting for Christmas. (I should say … what I got for Christmas – past tense – because this post is super late lol!)

1. Louis Vuitton Pochette Metis

2. Louis Vuitton Key Pouch

3. Replenishment of makeup essentials (I’ll do my Sephora haul in a separate post!)

THANK YOU so much for reading!! I appreciate you all and I look forward to the new year. There’s so much I want to do and share with you all!! I’ll get my reflections and “best of 2018” post up soon!

NYFW: Day Three

Well y’all, as you can see, I clearly got behind on posting here on the blog. If you have not been following along in Instagram Stories, what in the world are you waiting for? I am literally sharing everything about my NYC trip on there!

Saturday and Sunday were busy, busy days! When I tell you that my eyes are heavy and my feet are sore, I do NOT tell a lie. But man, this has been the most incredible trip. I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again and again, I am thrilled to be here with my girlfriends! It makes me miss Houston so much!

We had a jammed packed schedule (what else is new), but here are the highlights:

Taoray Wang

I started my day at Taoray Wang. The clothes were beyond stunning. Very chic, the looks were cohesive and so practical for everyday life. I could literally see myself wearing everything that came down the runway. My favorite was the ruffle belts that she paired with the elaborate blouses. Check out the photos below:

Banana Republic

I loved this collection and the “see now, buy now” concept. More and more designers and brands are taking this route during NYFW and it is definitely the right direction to go. Consumers want access now! Show attendees could literally shop the collection right after the runway show. I wanted everything. Great materials, gorgeous color palettes and lots of texture. Kudos, Olivia!

Phillip Plein

Future and Nicki Minaj were scheduled to be at this show and it was absolutely BANANAS getting in. We almost left, but managed to work our way up to the right person to show them our tickets to the show. The crowd was OOC – out of control! The show opened with a cabaret performance  that was awesome! And then Future came out to perform. He continued as the models started walking the runway. I was telling my friends after the show that this show wins the “cool” award. I’ve never experienced anything like it before. There had to of been at least 2000 people at this fashion show. Phillip was incredibly humbled by the turnout and apologized for the chaos! It was a great show!

Chic Minimalist X H Halston

This is a sponsored post in collaboration with H Halston. This post contains affiliate links that when clicked on, I may receive a commission from them. All thoughts and views are my own.

Creating looks and preparing my wardrobe for the upcoming season is something that I always looked forward to. I’ve partnered with H Halston, available at Dillard’s, to style a look that I can easily take from day to night – from work day to play in minutes. I am an aspiring chic minimalist, so as I was clicking through the Dillard’s website to select what pieces I wanted for this collaboration, I was thrilled to see that H Halston is all about minimalist style.

The collection is inspired by Halston, one of the first luxury designers in America. Each piece is a nod to their heritage and I had so much fun finding something that would work great in my wardrobe. The great thing about minimalist style is that it’s easy to mix and match and create multiple looks with the same pieces.

I own a great pair of red wide leg pants that I love to style different ways. I used this as the starting point for creating the look with H Halston pieces. Style tip: if you don’t know where to start with creating a look, pick out a bold piece from your closet that you love and build from there.

If you follow me on Instagram or peep my shop pages, you know that I love a cold shoulder. I have broad shoulders and I am not shy about showing them off. As we move into fall, something that I like to do is mix up my cold shoulder looks with one shoulder tops! The one I found at H Halston was the perfect neutral color to match my pants.

To complete the look and add a bit of style, I tied a printed scarf around my neck and selected some sassy black pointed toe stilettos (also from H Halston). The great thing about this look is that I can see myself wearing it to work with a blazer, or as-is for a cocktail hour with the girls.

The H Halston collection can be found online and in-store at Dillard’s. You can shop my look below, along with a few of my other favorites! Tell me your faves in the comments below!

NYFW: Prep Mode

The past few weeks have been full on prep for NYFW and catching up on the piles of work I left behind when I took time off for the passing of my grandfather. I wonder what will consume my days when fashion week passes … BUT I am so excited to be heading back to NYC this September to cover shows for the week. Seeing what trends are coming and learning about the design inspiration behind each collection is something that I look forward to every year, even before I started traveling into the city to see the actual shows!

I’ll share everything I can on the blog in the coming weeks about my trip, as I know there are so many readers who either are interested in traveling to NYC for fun or blogger friends who want to attend shows!

Now that we are about 2 weeks out from the shows, I thought I’d share with you what my past couple of weeks have looked like to prepare:

1. Research, Research, Research – I’m researching everything from who is showing at NYFW to what PR company is representing the different designers.

2. Building my contact list – I have a Google doc that I work off of where I have listed literally every PR company that is based in NYC or that I have worked with in the past. All of the designers presenting at NYFW are also on this list.

3. Send those emails! – I started emailing 4 weeks out and I will start sending follow ups in the next week or so. While some show invites come on their own, many require a little leg work.

4. Styling – I’ve spent a ton of time on Pinterest and Instagram getting style inspiration for my outfits for the week that I will be in NYC. I like to think I’m pretty style savvy but it doesn’t hurt to do a little research to get inspired by looks that I may not have thought of on my own. I also plan to do a mini try on session on my Insta Story prior to leaving so that you guys can see how I rock NYFW style – so stay tuned.

That’s what I’ve been up to in a nutshell (a big nutshell) If you’re reading this and have questions about NYFW Prep Mode specifics, shoot me an email or fill out a contact form. I’ll answer your questions as best I can! I’ll be adding to my NYFW posts in the coming weeks.

Thanks for stopping by the blog y’all! I’m headed to Indiana this week to check on my sister and brother in law! You can follow along on Insta Story.

NYFW: Day One

Day one of NYFW is in the books!  I am beyond exhausted but so grateful for the opportunity to be here! I’ve been up since 3:30AM CST and can hardly see straight, but I am obsessed with the designer I saw tonight. Since I landed mid afternoon, I only committed to 3 shows for the day and a dinner with the girls tonight, but then the day got crazy and we only made it to one show. But it was Tadashi so I’m a happy girl. Below is a recap of who I saw today and some images from the ones I missed.

My look for the day was elevated street style, I wanted to be comfortable but still have a bit of an edge flair. My top is from Zara, it’s an oversized sweatshirt that turned out to be perfect for the cooler weather we are experiencing here in NYC this week. When I saw the top, I knew immediately that I needed a short skirt or shorts that had ruffles. I ran out of time (and money) to buy high knee boots, so I wore my favorite ankle boots with a high knee sock. I love the way the look turned out!

Tadashi never disappoints with his designs. There were a few moments during the show when I had to close my mouth because the pieces were just so gorgeous! Major jaw drop. The show started with every day pieces that I truly feel like I could wear to events when I am out and about or even to dinner, and then shifted into these magical dresses that were full of sparkle and amazing design. Below are a few images/videos of my favorite looks.

I didn’t make it to Noon by Noor or Sechs Element (click to see photos) but I definitely wanted to show you guys what I missed because they both produced such amazing shows with gorgeous product.

Videos are courtesy of Christie Ferrari! Check out her YouTube page for more.

SECHS ELEMENT

Founded in 2016, Sechs Element’s mission is to further awareness and education of sustainability in the fashion industry with a focus on China. Taking a leadership role in spreading the message of eco-consciousness, the firm will reprise its debut fashion show in China following NYFW, educating students and fashion industry professionals on sustainability resources and practices. Can’t wait to see more tomorrow (Friday)!

NYFW: Day Two

What a whirlwind of a day! My day was jam packed with shows, I tried to make everything that I could but of course, there were a few that I had to miss. Yesterday was day two of NYFW. It is SO amazing to be here in the city with all of my Texas blogger babes! I mean … WOW! It just makes all the difference.

Galtiscopio

I started the day at Galtiscopio. They put on a great show and even had Ray J there to perform a song. Below is a photo recap of the show. I love the sparkly pieces! There were so many pretty things to look at as the models walked down the runway.

All Comes From Nothing

Next up was All Comes From Nothing which was a very edgy, cool show. I enjoy seeing different styles. It gives me inspiration on how I might style a look in the future. The tops would be great to style with denim shorts and boots during transitional months, and the outwear was really eye catching. Check out the photo recap below.

Concept Korea

After All Comes From Nothing, we raced over to Concept Korea which did not disappoint. Loved the show! The show consisted of designs from several Korean designers. The group presents twice a year at Fashion Week.

Katie Gallagher

This was a presentation, very much a come and go type of event. There were a lot of sheer pieces, dark colors and texture. I am loving the dark tones for Spring, it’s an interesting spin on the norm. I look forward to seeing the trends come to life next year.

Top 5 Shoes Trends You Should Be Following

[et_pb_section fb_built=”1″ _builder_version=”3.17.6″][et_pb_row custom_padding=”14.125px|0px|0|0px|false|false” _builder_version=”3.17.6″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.17.6″ parallax=”off” parallax_method=”on”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.17.6″]

I have never been one to follow trends, so I was hesitant to title this post the way that I have, but to be fair, it’s my job to keep you all in the know on what’s happening in the fashion industry, what to buy and where to get it at a great price.

I was looking through pictures and realized that I have been wearing the same five types of shoes all season long. Without fail, my shoe rotation is pretty consistent. No complaints here though because I have been able to style each shoe so many different ways and try new looks.

The shoe trends I’m loving this season are probably pretty obvious if you follow me on social media, but I’m excited to share more about them here!

 Pop of Color

Bold colors are a great way to add a POP to your outfit. I do this a lot with shoes. This shoe trend was something I noticed while reading fashion magazines and also fellow influencer blogs that highlight shoe trends. My favorite shoe that adds a bold pop of color is the —-. I wore these for my DSW launch photoshoot. They are so comfortable and the color is out of this world. The pinkest, pink I ever did see!

[/et_pb_code][et_pb_image src=”https://stephtaylorjackson.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Steph_DSW-19.jpg” _builder_version=”3.17.6″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row custom_padding=”17px|0px|14.125px|0px|false|false” _builder_version=”3.17.6″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.17.6″ parallax=”off” parallax_method=”on”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.17.6″]

Combat Boots

I wore these for the first time on my trip to Santa Fe with Erborian, and now 2 months later, here we are … I’m still wearing them. I style my combat boots with jeans, skirts and even dresses. My #1 style tip for this shoe is to not be afraid to pair it with something you wouldn’t normally think would work. I literally just put them on with whatever I’m wearing and it usually works out. Be adventurous! Plus these shoes are SO incredibly comfortable, your feet will thank you.

Dad Sneakers

I feel like I am so late to this shoe trend, but if there’s a bandwagon – I’m definitely the captain. Dad sneakers are.my.jam! I’ve worn them with so many different types of outfits. You can find cute pairs at varying price points, which is amazing because let’s face it … we can’t all buy Balenciaga’s! Fila is having a moment right now and I’m kind of here for it. The other pair that I own is by — . My younger sister and I both got a pair. We were supposed to do a sister shoot while she was in town last, but the shoes didn’t quite get here in time, so stay tuned for that because … #wecuteboo! haha

Over The Knee Boots

Over the knee boots are a classic shoe trend that make their return season after season. I have two pairs of this style of boot – grey and black. I like the brands I chose because they stay up on my leg with ease, I don’t have to worry about the boot sliding down throughout the day. I recently styled them for the first time with pants. I have always worn them with a dress or a skirt because I didn’t like how they looked with jeans, but I found a way to try it out that didn’t drive the stylist in me crazy.

Sock Booties

So, I have a confession. I might be addicted to these boots. I have worn them so much that when I was looking at my planned posts for Instagram, I told myself … maybe slow down on the white boots. Sock booties are so perfect for the fall/winter season and can be worn so many different ways. Most recently, I styled them with a work look, because so many of you said you wanted to see more of that! The pair that I am wearing is by Stuart Weitzman, they come in a variety of colors and (like all the other styles I shared) can be worn with anything your heart desires. I’ll share a few ways that I’ve styled mine below!

Any styles surprise you? It’s hard to pick a favorite between these options because I wear them all so often! If you’re unsure of wear to start with shoes this season, I’d say, start here! Blogging Tips

How I Balance Blogging And Working Full-Time

Today on the blog I’m answering one of the most asked questions I get, “how do you balance blogging and working full-time?”

This question has so many layers to it so, I think I’ll start with one post and then continue to share additional tips and true stories in upcoming posts.

About a year ago I wrote a post titled, “how to balance the side hustle,” which gives a little insight into my routine and how I balance everything. But I have a feeling you all are wanting to get into the nitty gritty, not so pretty details at this point – so let’s do it.

I want to start this post by saying that what you see on the internet, is not always what it seems. Sure I appear to have it all together, but there are some pretty challenging times that I encounter often. It honestly forces me to stop and regroup because I’ll feel like I’m spiraling out of control! So please don’t ever think I have it all together, because I’m a hot mess too at times … most of the time.

I try to use every hour in the day productively, when I have the energy to do so. Sometimes work is hard and for the sake of my mental health, all I can do is focus on work, and that’s okay. But I know that I also have commitments to the blog that I have to meet. For that reason, I schedule in time to get my blog work done. I am firm believer in the fact that we always do exactly what we want to do. Even when faced with setbacks. If you really want to get something done, you will. I really want to do well at work and I want to succeed in my blog, so I do. Having this mindset from the get-go is so important (in my opinion).

So let’s jump right in.

I use my breaks effectively

When I am at work, I usually use my lunch break to work on the blog. It is completely typical to find me in my car, responding to emails and engaging on social media. I’ll occasionally post to my social channels at that time too. It’s only an hour, so I don’t get a ton of work done, but it’s enough time to check in on things and ensure my business is running the way it should. You can eat with one hand and work with the other, remember that!

I know my weaknesses

I am not good with managing free time. I know this about myself. I have to have a planned out day, otherwise, I’ll look up and I’ve wasted the entire day. I have a journal that I use when I’m feeling overwhelmed or struggling with execution. I write out all the things I need to get done and hold myself accountable to marking everything off the list. I’ll get into my procrastination struggle in a minute, but there are times when my list takes a few days to get done (I’m a work in progress, y’all), but the bottom line is, I have to get it done.

At work, I try to hire out my weaknesses. The things I am not good at/not interested in, I have someone on my team who is. It allows me to not feel like I’m pulling my hair out trying to figure something out. I also do the same for the blog. I am not interested in reading contracts every day and negotiating back and forth with brands, especially if I have too much on my plate already. I have a great lawyer friend who does this for me. Her name is Jamillah of Pate Law. If you are a creative entrepreneur or anyone who needs help with the legal side of things, I highly recommend her. She’s helped me on numerous occasions! Email me for her information.

I HAVE A PLAN

Planning is key to success when trying to balance multiple projects. I am admittedly a serial procrastinator in many areas of my life, so I have had to be very purposeful with planning out everything I do. I need to have my husband’s travel schedule for the month ahead of time so that I can plan my work schedule. I try my best to write my work schedule around my kids’ basketball games/practices. From there I know that I need to shoot at least 2-4 times a month to get my content together. And lastly, I need time to write and be creative. I wrote this post while traveling back to Dallas after being in Houston for a photoshoot. I planned to write 3 blog posts, catch up on emails and charge my phone during the time it takes to home. I got everything done except 1 of the blog posts. Have a plan. Everything won’t always go according to plan, but if you envision what you want to get done, you’re more likely to do it.

FIND A ROUTINE THAT WORKS FOR YOU

I get a lot of work done at night after my kids go to bed. I’m guilty of being on my phone too much, so I’m working on balancing this better.

Here is a peek at a day in the life here at the Jackson household:

Ideally, when I get home from work, I’m hanging out with my family and we eat dinner together. Then we do homework – my husband helps the kids with the complex math because I just can’t and I help with everything else. After that, we recap the day. I like to know what everyone did for the day, what they learned, if there’s anything going on that I need to know about. Lastly, we get lunches packed and clothes picked out for the next day. When the boys are in their room for the night, I go to my room and work for a about an hour while my husband catches up on his shows in the living room. From there, when I’m done, I go to the living room and say “honey…. are you going to be up much longer?” lol and then he says no, and eventually comes to the room and we have our time together. This doesn’t happen exactly like this every night. Yes, I fall asleep at my computer or sometimes I say “screw it, I’m watching TV tonight” but usually, this is the routine.

THANKS FOR READING

Every job is different, every blogger is different – so I hope this gives you an idea of what my life is like. I think we all have to find what works for us and build from there. One of my favorite bosses told me this one time: “you get what you focus on.” I truly believe that! There is no magic potion to success or finding balance. You really have to be intentional.

Thank you so much for reading today’s post! It was a long one but I wanted to answer as honestly as possible!

Have a great weekend!

Just call me the shoe fairy because I’ve got all the deets on the best deals for the family this holiday season! I’m teaming up Reebok to share what I bought for my loved ones and to hopefully inspire you to jumpstart your Christmas shopping in style.

We are a pretty active family, so the shoes we wear are a huge and very important part of our lives. From running my kids to their sporting events, to the gym and everything in between, I feel like we’re always on the go! I shared on Instagram stories how often we buy shoes for the boys, so I was thrilled to see the amazing deals that Reebok has right now for Cyber Weekend. 40% off site-wide is such a good deal!

I’m going to break down what I bought, for who and why in today’s post … Just in time for some Cyber Monday shopping!!!

Shoes for Me

For myself (… because, treat ‘yo self!) I bought the cutest crop top that I plan to wear with high waist leggings this winter and the 3D Opi Lite sneakers. These shoes are so funky and cool, plus they come in a range of colors. I was initially attracted to the unique shape so I had to pull the trigger and get them!

Shoes for Dad

My dad is running his first marathon this December, and he has been running a LOT of miles to prepare his body for the big day. I knew immediately that I wanted to get him a pair of running shoes to add to his training rotation. I picked out the Floatride Run shoes. These were highly rated for runners!

Shoes for the boys

My kiddos have tons of basketball shoes in their closets, so I wanted to get them something nice but still athletic to wear to school. These will be so cute with jeans, and since the temperatures are starting to drop here in Texas (finally), it’s perfect timing.

Shoes for Hubby

My hubby picked out the Speedlux 3.0 sneaker for himself. They are an affordable shoe that he plans to wear to the gym and running errands.

With the 40% off discount, everything I bought would come out to less than $300! Such a good deal! Be sure to check out the sale and tag me so I can see your finds!! I have some ideas on how I want to style the sneakers I bought for myself, so stay tuned for a post later this week where I’ll show them off!
