Walmart Fashion Haul November 2020

Baby girl is officially here and I am finally able to comfortably wear all the things I purchased in anticipation of postpartum life. Today on the blog I’m rounding up a few Walmart fashion favorites plus some Black Friday deals that you need to shop … NOW!

There have been several great new arrivals that I have had my eye on. The tan sweater with the balloon sleeves is so gorgeous. I recently ordered it and think it will look so good with a pair of faux leather leggings and boots.

Walmart continues to deliver great style. In addition to the fashion, I have purchased a few post baby essentials like nursing bras and this breast pump!

As we get ready for Black Friday, I wanted to also share a few deals that you can shop now! I saw that some women’s clothing is up to 40% off and since Walmart already has great pricing, this is such a good deal. I’ll also link a few gifting ideas to get you started this holiday season.

Thank you for reading! Happy shopping!

Our Covid Baby Shower

What a magical day we had celebrating the arrival of baby girl Jackson! Every detail was so well thought out and I could not have been happier. Today on the blog I’m going to answer all of the FAQs and share the amazing vendors we worked with to bring my VC Polo Classic themed shower to life.

But first, here are all the details on what I wore to the event. Believe it or not, my headband was a $2 Walmart find the night before the party. You can shop my look below:

What I Wore

Oh Baby! Let’s Party!

And now for all the party details. I will go through the planning process, who we worked with and how we pulled this event off in the middle of a pandemic.

Planning The Baby Soireé

We worked with Lushra in Dallas to help put together our party. They are branding rockstars and nail every party detail SO well. After stalking a few of their events on Instagram, I knew I wanted to use them to help pull everything together. I had a dedicated event contact, Sheila, who was such a gem and helped so much. I was able to go to their venue twice before the event to discuss plans and finalize details in terms of set-up, vendor communication and color palette. The rest of the time we communicated via email. It was nice to feel like everything was under control.

Working With Vendors

We also worked with so many incredible vendors. I had no idea what to expect at the beginning of this process, I just knew that I wanted a fabulous and memorable event for my friends and family. With the pandemic being very real, one thing I loved was being able to have virtual planning sessions and mood board planning with a few of the vendors we worked with. Something Pretty Floral, a Dallas-based florist that we love, had the awesome idea to drop off ideas and inspiration for us to review. It really helped to have something visual to work off of to ease the planning process. All I had to do was share my vision and Taylor, the amazing owner, blew us away. Here’s a list of who we worked with and what for:

Let me tell you, this is the DREAM TEAM! Everything pulled together so incredibly well. I am already trying to figure out my next event … the baby’s first birthday seems too far away! Ha!

FAQs

  1. How many people did you invite? The guest list was small. We only included our closest local friends. There were about 15 people total, 6 of which were family that we see often already!
  2. How did you manage Covid precautions? We let everyone know on the invite that we wanted to have FUN but also that we wanted to be SAFE. Temps were taken at the door, masks were provided, we were outdoors and had several spaced out seating areas to allow for social distancing. Most of the people at the event are people that we already hang out with on a regular basis, but we still took precautions.
  3. Was the event sponsored? While we did work with a few vendors on some of the rentals, the event was not sponsored. We wanted to throw a great party for our friends and family and we did just that!
  4. How long did it take to plan? We started planning early September and the event was the first weekend in October. We lucked out on venue availability because it was new and luckily all the vendors we wanted to work with were also available.
  5. How did you come up with the theme? I’d say we had a very loose theme. I love the vibe of the VC Polo Classic and wanted to throw a party that mimics that whimsical, fun this event brings every year, but also add a few of our own touches as well. I wanted bright colors, over the top decor, lots of bubbly and a very fun vibe.
  6. Did you plan the event or did someone plan it for you? Funny, I actually planned most of the venue details and didn’t share anything with my sister’s who were planning everything else (food, games, favors, etc.) I really wanted to create an experience for everyone. We’ve been cooped up for months dealing with Covid! It was time to bust out of the house and party!

The event was so special to me and will be a great memory to look back on for years to come. I’m so glad I didn’t let my worries about Covid stop me from doing a party safely, my way.

I ordered some really fun cups, koozies and personalized water bottles that you probably noticed in the pictures as well. Here are all of the details for that as well:

Thank you!

Thank you so much for reading today’s post! I hope it answered all of your questions and inspired some details for your next party. There are links throughout this post where you can check out the vendors we worked with, plus shop some of the party details.

Sweater weather is here, and I am so excited to be partnering with Walmart again to bring you the best of the best in affordable fashion. Today I rounded up 20 sweaters under $30 that all had amazing reviews online. A few are even from the new Free Assembly line that I recently discovered while browsing Walmart.com. Here are a few of my faves + you can shop my look from Walmart using the links below!

20 Sweaters Under $30

Affordable fashion is so important to me! I love being able to switch up my wardrobe and add great pieces without spending a lot of money. I own 3 of these sweaters and plan to purchase a few more. The quality is great and many styles are casual enough to wear around the house.

Fall Fashion at Nordstrom

Here’s my latest fall fashion round-up from Nordstorm! You guys know I love shopping here and often find the best looks to carry me through from season to season. I’ve got links for the look featured in this post and for several more must have items for fall. Ready? Let’s shop!

What’s In My Cart:

I’ve shared this before, but my favorite place to start when shopping for outfits at Nordstrom is the Featured section. From there I go to Topshop & Trend and go to town. I have been thinking about these boots for awhile. The price is what made me hesitate, but they look so so good on everyone that I’ve see who has them, so I may go ahead a just do it!

Shop My Look

Here is what else I am loving in fall fashion for the whole fam! I have been shopping A LOT for baby girl, but Nordstrom also has great items for my boys as well. For baby girl, I typically shop for easy layers and things that can be worn multiple ways. For my boys, I always shop activewear. They love basketball shorts, sweats, leggings – basically they dress as if they are headed to a sporting event every day. Lol!

I’ll of course keep you posted on what else I’m finding and loving! Confession: I cannot wait to be able to shop for looks that are my regular, pre-bump size, but for the moment, I’ll keep enjoying the baby belly!

Thank you for reading! You can shop my look from last month here!

Hospital Bag: What I’m Bringing

It’s time to pack the hospital bag! Can you believe it? I put up a question box on my Instagram stories and you guys were so helpful! Here is what I’m bringing with me, including what bags I plan to use. We can start with the bags!

Hospital Bag: What Bag Should I Bring

When it comes to hospital bags, I pulled out my two most used bags (Hartmann carry-on suitcase + Gucci Ophidia Tote)and I purchased a travel diaper bag from Caraa that I fell in love with after seeing it on Instagram. The color linked above is what is available at Nordstrom, however, this is the exact one I have (they aren’t linkable through LTK).

Hospital Bag Essentials: What I’m Bringing
For Baby
  • 2-3 Outfits
  • Mittens
  • Headbands + Bows
  • Car Seat
  • Swaddles
Shop My Hospital Bag:

Gosh we are just so excited! I have the hospital bag sitting by the door and we’re just waiting for the big day. As I think of more things or as things pop up that I think I should add, I will toss them in. My going home outfit (which is the least important of everything lol) is in route, I think it will arrive before baby but if not, I have a back up packed. I can’t wait to share all about her once she’s here!

Baby Registry Must Haves

I’ve received several questions about my baby registry, so I thought that I would go through my list and share a few things that we’ve either received or registered for that I am really excited about. Creating a baby registry was a little daunting at first, mostly because my kids are a lot older and it has been awhile since I have even thought about having a baby.

Thank goodness for dear friends who have had children recently and know all of the must have gadgets to get for babies these days. I also did some research on my own based on recommendations. Let’s dive in!

You may notice, I did not include clothes on my baby registry … why? I am a little crazy when it comes to baby girl clothes and have a very specific vision for what I want to shop for and style. My husband just rolls his eyes, but I plan to have as much fun as possible dressing baby sis!

My baby registry is linked here, feel free to click through and see what I registered for. I tried to focus on essentials for the first few months, because I know that I will likely shop quite a bit for the baby once she’s here and have a chance to see what works and doesn’t work.

Baby Registry Must Haves – Baby Gear

Here is a look at all of the baby gear that we have or that we registered for. The only thing we are waiting for is the bassinet! Everything else is here and put together, which eases some stress.

Stroller – Nuna Mixx Next

We went with the Nuna Mixx next stroller from Nordstrom. I have shared this in one of my bump updates, but I really like this stroller. The design is sleek, the ride seems very smooth and it is very functional for our needs. I also purchased the bassinet to go with it for the early days! I am so excited to start using it soon.

4moms – Bassinet + Swing

I can’t wait to try these two products out. I’ve heard great things. I honestly searched for tons of bassinets, I debated on the beautiful Moses basket style, the Snoo, the Halo … but ultimately decided to go with 4moms! There seem to be several modes on it that I look forward to trying with baby.

Car Seats

Finding the right car seat was so important to me as well. I have had my eye on the Doona since before we were even pregnant. I vividly remember lugging my sons around in their car seats when they were younger and honestly, I have no desire to do any of that this time around. I love that the Doona converts so easily from a car seat to a stroller. This car seat will be in my car. We also got the Clek for my husbands car. The safety features and awesome design will be perfect for baby girl!

Shop My Baby Registry

You can see the rest of what I registered for at the link above or shop some of the items here! I hope that you find this helpful and of course, let me know if there are any items that you registered for that you think would be great to add.

Thank you for reading! You can see more items that I’ve purchased along the way in any of my bump updates!

Fall Florals Trend

Now trending: Fall Florals!

I have always loved this trend and it seems to come back every year in some way, shape or form. This season, I’ve been slowly adding a few new pieces to my collection! Walmart has a great “trends” section on their website, so I’ve been browsing this and saving some items for after the baby bump.

Today on the blog I rounded up all of my favorites, plus some accessories that will look great with them as well. You can easily shop the post by clicking on any links or images!

Fall Florals I Love

The details are so romantic! I can definitely see myself styling lots of florals this fall. I’ve been also trying to find great mommy and me looks for when baby girl arrives. One of my favorite things about fall fashion is completing the look with a boot. I was excited to see so many of the boots from Walmart have great reviews and I’ll be ordering some for my next haul.

Fall Florals Styled with Boots

These are the ones that I have saved. I don’t need all of them, but I definitely think I’m going to get the black over the knee boot because I no longer own a pair in this color! Great price point too! I think they are all under $50.

Don’t sleep on Walmart y’all! Their fashion game has really evolved and you will be surprised at what you find. I have yet to be disappointed by any of my purchases.

Enjoy! Can’t wait to show you what I find next month!

Must Have Hats for Fall

Must have hats for fall – let’s discuss! I love hats but have always had such a hard time finding one that fits. In the past, I would buy the “one size fits all” options online and fight through the headache all day just for the “look.” But this fall, I really wanted to take the time to invest in some great hats that I can wear all season long … minus the headache.

Today on the blog, I’m going to round up a couple brands that have great hats for fall. There will be a mix of sized options – for us gals that need a specific width, plus some generic options for anyone that can wear those one size fits all hats! I have a massive head, so I need XL/61″!!

Hats for Fall

Lack of Color is the first brand that I discovered with great sizing options. I waited over a year to buy the hat shown in today’s look. Spending over $100 on a hat felt really ridiculous, but I knew that all of the cute hats that I see people style online that are “one-size” would not fit me. Here is the exact hat that I purchased. It is the Ivory Rancher and has been super popular, especially during the fall. I ordered mine directly from Lack of Color, because most local boutiques have not bought size XL. I could only find size L as the largest size. Just a heads up if you need to buy that size!

Lack of Color - Ivory Rancher

My next purchase was from Gigi Pip. I saw this brand a lot on Instagram and on Facebook ads, so I decided to check them out after my sister also mentioned the brand. They had a really great Labor Day BOGO sale, so this is when I purchased. I bought two hats (shown below). Both Gigi Pip and Lack of Color have a great size range. I am a size XL in this brand as well.

Gigi Pip

Here are a few affordable hats for fall that do not have a large size range (if any), but are super cute and highly rated! I wish my head was small enough to fit these LOL! But that’s okay, you guys check them out!

Happy shopping, y’all! We have less than 30 days until baby girls makes her debut and I have lots of content planned to keep you looking fabulous throughout the season. Thank you so much for reading today’s hats for fall post! Let me know if you find one that you love and remember, you can always shop my looks via Liketoknow.it or on my shop page!

Walmart+ Membership Program

This post is written in partnership with Walmart

I am so excited to be sharing all about Walmart+ membership program today on the blog. As you probably know, we are always shopping at Walmart for groceries, essentials for the home, plus fashion for the whole family.

Walmart+ is a new membership service (just $98 for the whole year or $12.95 a month) that offers great benefits for shoppers including free unlimited delivery (your order must be at least $35 and other restrictions may apply) and member prices on fuel

My favorite feature is the free unlimited delivery. Why? Because the further along I get in my pregnancy, the less I want to leave the house! We are also so busy, all the time. Between work, the blog and the boys, keeping up with everything around the house and remembering to keep everyday basics in stock is a challenge.

I can see myself using this service A LOT once the baby comes as well. We’ve had so many random things delivered to the house recently from Walmart!

Will you be signing up for Walmart+? I’ll keep you posted on how we are using and loving it over on Instagram. Thank you for reading.

August Beauty Favorites

August Beauty Favorites! I’m going to do a roundup of everything that I used and loved last month, plus a review of the Dr. Barbara Strum skincare that I shared over on Instagram a couple weeks ago. To make it easy to navigate, I’ve broken the post down by category, so feel free to scroll and find what you are interested in seeing!

August Beauty Favorites: Makeup

Makeup for me is like candy land. I love to play and try new products and brands. I also love to keep my old faithfuls in stock and ready for use at any time. Here is what I tried that is NEW plus what I had to buy more of because I used it all last month.

August Beauty Favorites: Hair

Depending on how my hair is styled, my products will change. My hair is natural (meaning no relaxers or chemicals), so in it’s natural state it is very curly! I wear protective styles and currently have a sew-in, which means my natural hair is braided down and I have weave sewn into my hair! I tried a couple new products this month, some I loved, some I didn’t love so much … but here is a breakdown of all of that, plus what I had to restock.

August Beauty Favorites: Skincare

My skin is something that I take great pride in. I always want to make sure I’m using the best products that will deliver the best results. I have a mini arsenal of skincare goodies that I can pull from, no matter what’s going on with my face. I’ll show you my go-to products plus if you keep scrolling, I’ll give you a review of the Dr. Barbara Strum skincare that I told you about.

Dr. Barbara Strum

I received this product as a gift and was super curious about the product line for darker skin tones. Usually when I see skincare, it is one size fits all, so the attentiveness to the fact that melanin requires a different approach, was enough for me to say “let’s try this.”

I’ve been using the Darker Skin Tones Foam Cleanser for a couple weeks now and it does a nice job of cleaning my skin. I like that it doesn’t leave me feeling super dehydrated after use. I’ve used some cleansers that are awesome, but my face needs immediate moisture after because I’m so dried out. My face feels and looks refreshed after each use.

I follow the foam cleanser with Darker Skin Tones face cream. It is really hard to describe, but sometimes after using a product, my face is flushed/pale. I never thought anything of it until I put on the face cream and looked in the mirror and saw my skin looking brown and radiant.

Like I said, it’s really hard to explain, but it was almost as if the products were enriching my natural melanin skin tones as opposed to stripping them down with ingredients that were too harsh. I’ve never seen my face look like that (rich tone) after washing and moisturizing. I usually have to bring myself back to life with drops and starting my makeup routine.

I look forward to trying more products from the line. I used the hyaluronic serum sparingly because I couldn’t remember if it was safe for pregnancy, but I just looked and it’s okay to use. So I will start incorporating this more into my routine as well.

Overall, I am enjoying the products. They are gentle, yet effective! I’ll keep you posted as I try more things.

August Beauty Favorites: Body

Taking care of my total body skin, especially my belly has been more of a focus that ever now that I’m pregnant. I already have stretch marks from my previous two pregnancies, so my goal has been to prevent any additional marks and keep my skin very hydrated. I also linked the skin blur that I shared on Instagram a couple weeks ago. It works really well to minimize the appearance of my stretch marks. I use it when I’m going to swim or whenever I’ll be wearing something that would show my bum! Here is what I’ve been using:

Chic Fall Fashion Look

This chic fall fashion look is by Nordstrom; my go-to destination for buying trendy outfits for the season. I love to click on the “Topshop & Trend” section on their website and have a field day with all the stylish pieces that are featured. Styling this baby bump is not easy. So finding pieces that work for my body, without compromising my style has been my number 1 priority. Everything shown here is non-maternity, so you can easily recreate this chic fall fashion look as well if you are not preggo!

I linked my outfit details below! Just click on the images to shop.

Fall Dresses Under $100

Fall dresses under $100! Today I’m rounding up several dresses that will carry you through fall, without breaking the bank. I shared this wrap dress on Instagram earlier this week and you guys loved it! So I thought I’d share a few more styles that I have my eye on for the season. I’ll also link this full look within the post.

Where I’m Shopping

My go-to destinations for nearly all fashion items include Nordstrom, Topshop, ASOS and Walmart. You’ll see a mix of these brands within the fall dresses roundup. Finding great deals, that can be worn season after season is really important to me. I rarely splurge on trends, which is why affordable stores is such a huge part of my shopping routine.

Here’s a list of some more great places to find stylish pieces:

Madewell

Zara

Abercrombie

Nasty Gal

Boo Hoo

Express

Target

This of course is NOT an all inclusive list, but it is definitely what comes to mind when I think about fall fashion and affordable finds.

fall dresses under 100, fall fashion, fall style, fall dress

I wear a lot of dresses because they are easy for pregnancy, but even if you aren’t pregnant, you’ll get a lot of wear out of these dresses. I’d say almost all of them are work appropriate (depending on your job) and the rest work great for every day life.
